We need your views!Help us by completing a Questionnaires: Serving the local community for 150 yearsSacred Heart Church has been at the centre of the local community in Hanley since the Parish was formed in 1850. Extensive fund raising was undertaken in the late 19th Century by a poor, mainly Irish migrant community which led to the building of the magnificent Church which stands on Jasper Street, and the School to the south of the site. For over a century the school served the local community, until its closure in the early 1980s. when the former school building became the Sacred Heart Social Centre. Current users In the last 30 years the building has been the home for many groups in service of the local community, training courses, and a popular venue for social events. Organisations currently or recently using the Centre include: Beth Johnson Senior Citizens Centre; Stoke Irish Club, Newcastle Players, Slimming Club, Sudanese Community Association, Keralan Community Association, Ethiopian Community, Al-Anon, The Catholic Club, Maryvale Institute, JET training, Expert Patient Programme. .The next step |
